Overview
Regardless of the size of your community, investigators need to understand how technology works, how to find useful information, and how to use it as evidence in criminal investigations and criminal trials. This training will provide practical instruction to attendees on the unique sets of evidence available on the applications stored on Smartphone and Tablet devices, and the solutions and procedures for recovering and analyzing application data for use as evidence.
*Though it is not required, to get maximum benefit from this certification training module, it is highly recommended for students to bring a PC based laptop (XP, 7, or MAC with Parallels & Windrows O.S. installed) to use in the hand’s-on activities conducted during this class.
Objectives
- Attendees will be able to identify and locate various application files and convert data to evidence from any cellular device or tablet.
- Attendees will be able to identify password solutions and know how to use the various forensic tools and resources to “crack” a password on cellular and wireless devices (i.e. iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android phones and tablets)
- Each attendee will receive a flash drive to follow along step by step in the use of forensic tools and resources covered in class
About Glenn Bard, CTO
Glenn Bard is a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper First Class and U.S. Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. In 1999, Mr. Bard began Computer Crime Investigations for the PA State Police and has since investigated crimes across the U.S. ranging from child pornography to criminal homicide. Mr. Bard has also conducted forensic examinations for city, state, and federal Law Enforcement Agencies including the FBI, US Postal Inspectors, and I.C.E. as well as foreign governments. Mr. Bard currently is the Chief Technical Officer of PATCtech and is responsible for overseeing all training, forensic exams and security contracts. Mr. Bard is also a member of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Project ALERT where he assists with technological aspects of abducted children

This program meets the criteria for 14 hours towards Nebraska Law Enforcement Continuing Education requirements and meets the criteria for 14 hours of continuing education requirements for attorneys.
