Internships:
How Internships Work
BraveBe offers on-site, non-paid internships for college students who need to complete a minimum of 250 practicum or internship hours. Virtual internships are not available.
To participate, the student’s academic program must confirm that BraveBe Child Advocacy Center will:
-
Complete an evaluation of the student’s performance, and
-
Verify the completion of 250 hours.
Interns are primarily assigned to two core areas—forensic interviewing and family advocacy—and typically divide their time between both. Throughout the internship, students also attend Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, trainings, and BraveBe events to gain a broad understanding of our collaborative response to child abuse.
Areas of Work
Intern responsibilities may include:
Forensic Interview Observation: Observe forensic interviews and prepare draft summaries.
-
Family Advocacy Observation: Observe the non-offending caregiver’s initial meeting, assist the family advocate with documentation, and observe ongoing support offered throughout the life of a case, including trial preparations and court advocacy.
-
Clerical & Training Support: Provide administrative assistance and participate in professional trainings and MDT meetings.
These activities provide interns with a trauma-informed, real-world understanding of the child welfare and criminal justice systems.
If you are interested in being considered for an internship, please submit the Intern Interest Application at least four weeks prior to your desired start date. Background checks are required for all prospective interns.
